IEATA Conference '98  3rd Annual Conference of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association  FROM ARTS PLAY TO HEART'S PLAY:  The Role of Compassion in Expressive Arts Therapy

The International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA) is a non-profit, international, professional organization whose purpose is ro encourage the growth and evolution of an integrated multi-arts approach to psychotherapy, education and related fields.

Founded in 1994 by expressive arts therapists and educators, IEATA is an international, democratic association which, while acknowleging the uniqueness inherent is each artistic modality, seeks to maximize the synergy of the relationship of the arts to one another. The association recognizes the contribution of the arts to individual, community and global health and healing.

IEATA is in the early stages of development and invites any and all interested parties to participate. You are invited to join what is indeed an historic event in the history of arts, psychotherapy and education!

IEATA's mission is to inspire, stimulate and support the creative and artistic spirit. Additionally, IEATA seeks to:

• Establish professional recognition of the expressive arts;
• Support the development of an integrated multi-arts approach to psychotherapy, education and related forms of healing;
• Improve standards of practice and business conditions for expressive arts professionals worldwide;
• Promote research and publication in the expressive arts field;
• Provide vehicles for the ongoing exchange of information about the expressive arts;

• Participation in a global community of like minded expressive artists, therapists, educators and others involved in the arts and healing;
• Opportunity to help shape the field of expressive arts as a creative healing paradigm for the twenty-first century;
• Receive advanced notice and special member rates for expressive arts conferences held in the U.S. Canada and Europe;
• Obtain professional credentialing (registration and/or certification currently being developed);
• Receive the newsletter and other publications that include some of the most current work in the expressive arts field;
